What is the Old Totnesian Society?

A group of people who went to the King Edward VI Grammar School Totnes, or King Edward VI Community College and who wish to continue friendships, to arrange regular meetings, to receive news of former students and to maintain links with the College.

Membership of the Society is open to all full-time staff and students of the College and ex-Grammar School Boys. The Society began in 1896 and in the early years its members came from the Grammar School. Once the three secondary schools in Totnes combined in 1966 to become the King Edward VI College, membership was extended to former students of the new college.

Following the change in the constitution in 2006, membership of the Society is now open to former pupils of the Totnes High School for Girls and Redworth Secondary Modern School.

More recently the College has changed its name to reflect its many activities. It is now the King Edward VI Community College (KEVICC).

What does it do?

Newsletters are sent out twice a year to all members, giving news of past students together with college news.

At present two reunions are held each year in Totnes at at least one in London.

The Society also maintains links with the College by sponsoring annual events and giving prizes.
